Mjøndalen are set to triple police security before Brann arrive to play on Wednesday evening to decide who will get promotion to Norway's top league for next season.
The teams are carrying a first leg 1-1 draw after the first match at Brann's homeground in Bergen. The winner will get promoted for the 2015/16 season.
Ole Sivertsen, head of marketing for Mjøndalen, said to Drammens Tidende: “We are doing everything we can to prevent anything from happening during the Wednesday's match. The place will be crawling with police, so it will be completely safe for people to bring their kids to the football match. The risk in the stadium will be well taken care of. The big question is what will happen outside the grounds.”
No more than 300 Brann supporters are expected to attend the match. Geir Ellefsen, security advisor for the Norway Football Association of Norway (NFF), still does not want to take any chances.
"Not so many games get this classification. This is something that NFF does because a lot is at stake for both teams. There’s a lot of emotions around and that is why this decision has been made.” said Ellefsen.
