The 35-year-old man fired a single shot from his weapon on entering Stavanger University hospital at around 6pm on Saturday evening.
Rogaland police said they received a call at 6.43pm on Saturday evening. The man was in possession of a handgun when he was arrested in the reception of the emergency department of the hospital. Nobody was harmed in the incident and police believe it was a plea for help from the man.
Police chief Sveinung Ihle said to NTB, following the incident: “The arrested man has not yet been questioned, but there is one aspect indicating that this shooting was a cry for help. The man believes he has the right to health care.”
