Passengers at German airports can expect a controversial full body scan in the future.

Germany currently only has 14 full body scanners at six airports – Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart.

But 14 more will be placed in German airports by the end of the year, followed by 75 in the coming years, the Tagesspiegel reports.

Unlike metal detectors, the scanners can find fluids and powder and other potential dangerous materials.

But campaigners say the scanners are an intrusion of privacy.
