Norway's Health Director Bjørn Guldvog informed a press conference in Oslo on Monday that the Directorate of Health has continuously received calls from people who want to help the situation in West Africa.
Guldvog said: “They feel they are exposing themselves to a risk, but understand that it's a serious situation. They want to make an effort on behalf of all of us. I think we should appreciate that very much.”
He hoped that Norway can contribute with its first supply of health workers agreed in one to two weeks' time. Norway is working with the UK to help establish seven treatment centres in Sierre Leone, as well as other health projects.
Those who volunteer will first be sent on a nine-day training program in to York, northern England.
