Danish-Swedish production The Bridge will soon begin filming in Copenhagen, but the film company behind it says the show will become "more Danish than ever".

The Copenhagen Film Fund has announced that shooting for the third season of The Bridge (known as Bron in Sweden) is about to get underway in the Danish capital.

Thomas Gammeltoft, head of the Copenhagen Film Fund told Danish media:

"We are happy to contribute to the continuation of a series that is so well-told and so universal that it works in all markets. The previous seasons were sold to around 150 countries and both an American-Mexican and a French-English remake have already been made, which is very unique in Danish television history."

He added: "We are also very proud that the production of the series will be more Danish than seasons one and two and thereby create even more Danish jobs," Gammeltoft said, referring to the size of season three’s Danish production crew.

Bron III is expected to premiere in the autumn of 2015, but all signs indicate that it will be without its main Danish star, Kim Bodnia, who plays detective Martin Rohde.

The final episodes of the BBC's Wallander are also due to be shot in Copenhagen this autumn. The first six episodes of the show were set around Sweden.
