Støre said to NTB during the election meeting the Labour Party arranged in the centre of Oslo on Sunday evening: “If the poll numbers stay unchanged, the red-green parties have advanced, and we should expect interesting government negotiations.”
Around 40 people were gathered and applauded when the election poll results were announced.
He added: “The right wing parties are retreating, most of all, Moderaterna [the Moderate Party]. This is a show of the people's trust in [the Moderates] having become weak.”
Støre believes the red-green parties look likely to have an upper hand. They are leading on all Swedish election day polls, but in one of the polls, there is only one percent separating the two parties.
Støre, having known the leader of the Norwegian Labour Party’s sister party in Sweden for a couple of years, said: “If this keeps for establishing a new government with Stefan Löfven as prime minister, then this is something I whole-heartedly wish for him.”
Støre said of Stefan Löfven: “He is a sympathetic and safe person who it's easy to relate to.”
Even though Sverigedemokraterna are set to double their poll results, Støre doesn't think that it will make a big impact to change the likely outcome for Riksdagen (the Swedish parliament), that none of the other parties want to cooperate with them.
