The University of Salzburg said that 144 prospective psychology students were given the wrong envelopes on Tuesday.
Instead of the normal tests, they were handed copies with answers meant for the professors who would grade them. As soon as the mistake was realised the exam was cancelled and the papers quickly collected.
Paul Lengenfelder of the university's psychology department told the Austrian Press Agency that the students have now all been admitted to the university but will be re-tested next month.
