Are these the ugliest football kits ever?

Spanish Second Division side CD Lugo have released what are quite possibly the most unusual football kits ever: one of a draft beer and another one of an octopus tentacle. The Local looks at why they've done it and trawls the web to find the ugliest kits in Spanish footballing history.

If every football team turned their jerseys into their town’s traditional food and drink, this wouldn’t be news.

Valencia would wear a yellowish paella kit, Cordoba would sport a creamy red salmorejo top and the Spanish national side would run around dressed like pigs’ legs.

But only Galician side Club Deportivo Lugo have dared to enter the annals of football kit bizarreness this year with their local drink and meal of choice plastered all over their fourth and fifth kits.

It’s all down to club sponsor Estrella Galicia, the beer brewers par excellence in this northern Spanish region.

Their marketing experts have decided to have one jersey with a frothy caña (small Spanish beer) on it and another showcasing a juicy octopus tentacle, a local specialty in seafood-loving Galicia.

So far, Spaniards have reacted favourably to news of the peculiar kits on social media sites such as Twitter.

But not everyone takes well to originality in footballing fashion.
