EU slashes data roaming fees by more than half
Going from Malmö to Madrid, Stockholm to Seville, or Gothenburg to Girona just got a little bit cheaper.

From Tuesday, the price of browsing the internet on a smartphone more than halved, while costs were also cut for mobile phone calls and text messaging in other European countries.

The maximum price for using the internet will fall from 4.75 kronor ($0.70) to 2.24 per megabyte, while sending a text message drops from 0.84 kronor to 0.67.

Sending and receiving calls also just got cheaper: dialling out will cost a maximum of 2.13 kronor per minute, compared to 2.53 before

The new charges are part of the EU’s plan to develop the telecoms market across the continent and have more tech-savvy citizens.
