Top of the list is Arya, the tomboy of the house of Stark, with the name cropping up on 38 birth certificates since June 2011.
Game of Thrones debuted on US TV in April 2011 and has since been exported around the world generating a devoted fanbase of millions.
The figures have been released by Statistics Sweden (Statistiska centralbyrån) and record the list of names over a four year period between 2009 – 2013.
Whilst Arya was the runaway favourite the next most popular names were Sandor (20) Jaime (12) Theon (10) with the good-hearted Khaleesei inspiring five parents to name their daughter after her according to figures published in Aftonbladet.
In America the trend is even greater with 146 Khaleesis born in 2012
Perhaps unsurprisingly the hate-figure of the show Joffrey, son of incest and King of King's Landing, has only featured only two Swedish birth certificates in the past four years – both of which occurred before Games of Thrones aired on television.

Some Swedes have gone even further and given their newborn two Game of Thrones inspired names such as Theon and Jaime.
Despite the increase in popularity of names from the fantasy series they still have some way to go to catch up with Sweden's most commonly used newborn names.
Alice has been the most popular name given to girls for the last three years, with Lucas overtaking William as the most common name for boys.
