Pride in London is an annual event featuring gay, lesbian, transgender and straight people who are united under a banner of tolerance and acceptance of differences.

It will feature more than 200 groups, with an estimated 20,000 people from the LGBT community from London, the UK and abroad.

The announcement was made using Explovia, a popular smartphone app for people who want to find out what's on, and cool places to visit in London.

“I am really looking forward to seeing you all at Pride in London.  Let us be proud about who we are and let us give a statement for love, respect and tolerance.  And most of all let us be proud and think about those LGBTI people around the world, who can’t make a Gay Pride in their countries” said Wurst, who is also known as the drag performing alter ego of Austrian singer Tom Neuwirth.

Event organizer Michael Salter, Chair of Pride in London said: “Conchita is an incredible example of the power of having the #freedomto be oneself. Winning Eurovision, she raised the profile of the LGBT+ community across a continent and sent an important political message. We are thrilled that she is coming to celebrate Pride in London.”

In July, Wurst will also feature at a similar event in Sweden, the annual Stockholm Pride festival.
