On Friday, Kurz warned the prime minister, who will be visiting Austria on Thursday and Friday this week, not to make divisive remarks between the Austrian and Turkish communities.
According to the Austrian newspaper "Die Presse" on the weekend, Justice and Development Party (AKP) member Metin Kueluenk said that "the Austrian foreign minister must apologise to Prime Minister [Erdogan] for his comments, which far overshot the mark."
Erdogan is due to give a speech in the Albert-Schuetz ice rink in Vienna's 22nd district (Kagran). On Friday evening, the president of the Union of European-Turkish Democrats (UETD) Austria party, Abdurrahman Karayazili, who invited Erdogan, complained about serious political interventions that prevented the Turkish prime minister from giving his speech in a more prominent venue. The UETD is considered to be the extended arm of Erdogan's AKP party.
