Swedish summer on hold as rain approaches

Sweden's weather agency has predicted a temporary stop to the glorious summer weather, with rainy, cloudy days set to hit most of the country before the weekend.

Just when you thought it was safe to plan a trip to the beach….

Sweden's weather agency SMHI said on Thursday that the country should expect a cold front passing through in the afternoon, meaning rain during the day in Götaland, despite temperatures as high as 24C.

Those in Svealand and Norrland can expect clouds, with the best chances of sun in Lappland.

The rain will continue on Friday, especially in Götaland, despite the sun making appearances throughout the day.

"What will be most noticeable will be the cooler winds in Norrland and northern Svealand," Sandra Andersson, meteorologist at SMHI told the TT news agency.

"The temperatures in the day will only be around 10C-15C."

The weather agency added that summer should be back to normal by the early weekend, despite cloudy patches.
