Kirsten and Jörn Rausing, heirs to the Tetra Pak fortune, almost doubled their combined wealth in 2013, climbing four places on the Sunday Times Rich List to number eight.

The siblings saw their wealth increase a whopping £3.691 billion to £8.8 billion over the course of the year.

The hike was enough to climb above Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and the Duke of Westminster but not enough to claim the title of wealthiest Scandinavians in London with Norwegian shipping magnate John Fredriksen placing sixth with a £9.250 billion fortune.

Hans Rausing and his family were the next in line from Scandinavia in 17th place.

Kirsten Rausing was born in Lund in southern Sweden in 1952 and she is the granddaughter of Tetra Pak founder Ruben Rausing. Together with her brothers Jörn and Finn she sits on the board of the packaging giant's holding firm Tetra Laval.

Aside from charitable commitments Kirsten Rausing is known for breeding horses at her stud farms in England and Ireland.

Jörn Rausing emigrated from Sweden in 1985 and since 1991 he has been responsible for mergers and acquisitions within the concern. Since inheriting (with his siblings) his father Gad Rausing's 50 percent stake in the company in 2000 the concern's turnover has doubled in size.

The Sunday Times Rich List details the 1,000 wealthiest people in the Britain and 250 richest in Ireland and is published annually.
