Progress’s Per Sandberg is ‘a pus boil’: colleague

A damaging row has broken out within Norway's government Progress Party, with one of its most senior figures publicly denouncing its deputy leader as "a pussy boil" in the organization.

Louis Edvardsen, who leads the party in Lenvik, near Tromsø, said that Per Sandberg, one of the leading voices in the anti-immigrant, anti-Islamic wing of the party, had been causing serious internal damage.

"Per Sandberg is the big pus-filled boll for the Progress Party," he said. "For a deputy to carry on like that is devastating for the entire organization."

Sandberg last year made new enemies within the organisation when he published a controversial political autobiography, in which he criticised many of his colleagues.

Edvardsen said he believed the party's management felt "a great helplessness" in the face of Sandberg's antics, unable to know how to deal with having a  "loose cannon in a central position".

In the book, Sandberg describes Edvardsen as a dull careerist with no genuine interest in politics or the Progress Party. He is also accused him of harassing, stalking and opposing Sandberg wife, Line Miriam Sandberg.

Edvardsen contested Sandberg's account of how he had mistreated his wife, arguing that his account came from second hand reports from his wife rather than any direct knowledge of politics in the town.
