Sollecito, who was sentenced to 25 years in jail, was snapped standing outside the house, which Kercher shared with Knox, with his girlfriend Greta Menegaldo in a photograph published in the local daily, La Nazione.
The couple is reported to have visited the house on Thursday evening, shortly after buying something in a chemist on Perugia’s Grimana square.
One witness, called Enea, told La Nazione that she spotted Sollecito with a girl as she was driving near the house on via della Pergola.
“To tell you the truth; I couldn’t believe it…but when I saw them up close, it was Sollecito.”
Sollecito's father told Ansa news agency that he "saw nothing wrong" in his son revisiting the murder scene.
"If Raffaele wanted to show his girlfriend the ordeal he went through, I can't see anything wrong with that,” he said, reaffirming that his son “has absolutely nothing to do with that crime.”
Sollecito and Knox, who was sentenced to 28 years and six months for the murder, are still waiting for the explanation behind the January verdict before being able to appeal to Italy’s Supreme Court.
The verdict was the culmination of a process the court began last year, when it overturned the 2011 acquittals on the grounds the appeal judge displayed "a rare mix of violation of the law and illogicality" and that the approach taken to DNA evidence and witnesses was flawed.
