The first three bodies were found quickly after improving weather conditions allowed the search teams to launch their Sea King rescue helicopter, which tracked the signals given out by the skiers' rescue beacon.

The search parties also used a special avalanche dog to sniff out the bodies.

The four men, all experienced skiers in their 20s and 30s, split off from the other two members of their party on Monday morning, agreeing to meet at a farmhouse in the afternoon.

The surviving two members contacted the emergency services when they did not arrive.
