Evjen made the video, called 'Tiny Capital, while studying at the Nordic School of Photography, stitching together 76,940 single images, each of which was shot using a special tilt-shift lens.
The technique makes the real-life Oslo resemble a model city brought to life through stop-motion animation.
"The idea when I started working on the video was to convey the flow and population growth of the capital," he told Aftenposten newspaper. "This is a video about small but growing Oslo."
The video has been a hit in social media well beyond Norway, and was picked up last week by CBS News in the US.
