Monkeys, mischief and marches – in pictures

A frisky squirrel monkey, holding back neo-Nazi marches for the Dresden bombing memorial and axe-wielding teens all feature in The Local's pictorial review of the last seven days.

Wearing a suave black suit and donning a brown paper bag emblazoned with the words "I am not famous anymore", troubled star Shia LaBeouf took to the red carpet for the world premiere of Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac Volume I at the Berlinale on Sunday.

Elsewhere Purus, the squirrel monkey, was saying goodbye to his ladies as he was moved from Halle Zoo near Leipzig, where he has had 50 babies, to give the females a break and ensure no inbreeding.

In Israel, the German President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, caused outrage as he commented on the Palestinian situation in the West Bank causing several MPs to walk out during his speech.

Meanwhile, Olympic athletes brought glory for Germany as they swept the board for gold medals during in the luge competition.

On Thursday in Dresden, thousands of people formed a human chain to hold back neo-Nazi marches and in remembrance of the 25,000 people who died during the allied bombings in the city in 1945.
