Happiness is spreading to . . . Lausanne, at least in the form of a new video.

A collective of producers put together a four-minute video of professional dancers, actors and local celebrities strutting their stuff in the Vaud capital to the music of American R&B star Pharrell Williams' hit dance song “Happy”.

The city is the first one in Switzerland to participate in the international “Happy from . . . “ project that has so far enlisted 93 cities worldwide.

The Lausanne producers took 15 hours to shoot the video in various locations in the city centre.

Actors from the Manufacture theatre school, Olympic medallist judo champion Sergei Aschwanden and local broadcasters were involved along with the professional dancers, the 24 heures newspaper reported.

All told, 20 people took part in the production directed by Serge-Alain Simasotchi of SAS Prod, Nathan and Gabriel Saurer, David Baumann and Geoffroy Dubreuil, the newspaper said.

So far no other Swiss city has put together a similar video.

Other cities around the world, including at least nine in France, have offered their own distinctive takes on the original Happy video, featuring Williams and sundry street performers in Los Angeles.
