It was the week that winter finally arrived in Germany and lows of -15C are forecast this weekend. It was particularly cold in the north and east of the country.

Black ice caused an accident on Friday when a truck demolished half of a house near the Polish border.

There were plenty of dramatic photos this week from Munich when a fire broke out in the underground and a pavement collapsed to reveal a beer tunnel.

The ongoing scandal around motoring association ADAC and Friday's killings in a Frankfurt courtroom are also featured in The Local's week in pictures.
