"An ambulance is on its way from the scene with one injured person. He has slashed his own throat and is going to Haukeland Hospital with a police escort," the emergency services radioed to the Sea King rescue helicopter on Tuesday night, according to a transcript obtained by VG.
The killer, a 31-year-old man from South Sudan, stabbed to death all three other people on the Valdres Express on Tuesday night, including the driver.
He had been living in a refugee camp in Årdal and was due to be deported to Spain on Tuesday.
The authorities on Wednesday came under attack from the media after it emerged that there is very little screening of asylum seekers' mental health, with the emphasis largely on tuberculosis and HIV.
