“We can confirm that this is the 23-year-old woman. There’s no doubt about it,” said Väst Götaland police spokesman Björ Blixter to the TT news agency.
“Among other things, there are tattoos on the body that confirm it.”
The woman was found in Grästorps municipality by a hunter who had been asked by a neighbour to investigate a suspicious odor. The body was lying on the ground, only 100 metres from highway 44.
“It’s in very bad shape,” Blixter said in reference to the condition of the body.
Ambulance and police officers were called to the scene, which was cordoned off for a forensic investigation.
The 23-year-old has been missing since June 30th when a large amount of blood was found in her apartment in Trollhättan.
A 36-year-old man is due to be extradited to Sweden after having been arrested in Poland. A warrant was issued for his arrest on suspicion of murdering the woman. He is expected to arrive in Sweden by August 15th at the latest at which point a remand hearing will be held. The man has continually denied committing any crime.
Two additional men, aged 31 and 35, have been ordered held on remand by Vänergborg District Court on suspicion of aiding a criminal.
