Staff from the Red Cross deployed at 5am on Thursday to go looking for the two women, who had neither a map nor a compass with them when they first got lost earlier in the week. The Agder police district also said they had deployed a helicopter to look for the errant duo.
The women reportedly told rescue services that they had not brought a map or a compass because they had been intent on following well-marked routes.
"It's the same two ladies who had problems on Tuesday," police spokesman Per Kristian Klausen told regional newspaper Fædrelandsvennen.
"Then we managed to get ahold of them on the phone in Svartnut. But today we haven't been able to get in touch with them."
