The Official Bulletin of the Balearic Islands reported on Saturday that President José Ramón Bauzá has reshuffled his executive staff to make room for Verónica Hernández Rodríguez, best known as the 2009 winner of the Miss Baleares contest.

Miss Hernández is expected to work closely with the president, who is also the local head of the PP (Popular Party).

She replaces Elvira Bonnail Martín, who has been dismissed.

Miss Hernández possesses an impressive body of qualifications including a double degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication from the CEU San Pablo University in Madrid.

She was born in 1987 and speaks fluent German and English.

Her résumé includes work as an investigative journalist and TV presenter, as well as a community manager.

When she won the Miss Baleares crown, Hernández stated that she would "like to specialize in politics."

She will receive a salary of €50,023 a year plus expenses.
