Spanish nun places faith in Jesus board game

A Spanish nun has come up with a board game about Jesus Christ that has sold 5,000 copies in Spain since its launch in March and is already in demand in South America.

The game, aimed at adults and children above the age of seven, puts players’ knowledge of Catholicism and Jesus’s life to the test.

Its style is largely based on the popular Party & Co. board game, with categories such as sign language, drawing, miming and prayers.

Board game creator Sister María Granados said she came up with the idea as a new way of getting Jesus’s message across.

“It doesn’t replace catechism or religious teaching altogether, Granados told online daily La Información. “It’s only meant to help support this.”

The religious game, called La Alegría de la Fe (The Joy of Faith) can already be found in book stores all around Spain and comes at the price €50.

“As it’s colourful and varied, children have fun and learn at the same time,” the 35-year-old nun added.

Orders have already been placed in Mexico and both Granados and Spanish publisher Edice believe the board game has the potential to be a huge success among Latin America’s Catholic community.
