HELLS ANGELS

Fifteen Hells Angels jailed after party attack

Fifteen men with connections to the Swedish Hells Angels biker gang were sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison on Thursday for their involvement in a violent attack on party-goers in southern Sweden in May.

The gang members were found guilty of aggravated assault of at least eight people.

In May, they had crashed a private party held by a motorcycle club in Kalmar, southern Sweden, and proceeded to beat up some party-goers while others were forced to watch.

The Gothenburg District Court also found the men guilty of theft and causing property damages, wrote the TT news agency.

The prosecutor originally brought charges against 19 men, but four were released without conviction.

The court verdict stated that the Hells Angels went on the rampage simply to damage the rival club and its members.

It further said it was part and parcel of organized crime.

The prosecutor had argued the men should be given a four-year sentence, as the attack also involved theft of the rival gang members phones and cash.

The court found, however, that the men were more intent on humiliating their victims rather than stealing from them.

The charge of aggravated theft was thus downgraded to theft.

In support of the verdict, the court noted that the men had thrown away the haul rather than take it with them.

HACKING

Suspected hackers show porn on Swedish station billboard

Commuters in a southeast Swedish city were briefly roused from their wintry routines by a public display of pornography at a bus stop outside the central rail station, officials said on Friday.

For about 15 minutes on Thursday afternoon, during maintenance of an interactive display in the city of Kalmar, the usual adverts and videos were replaced by explicit images from a pornography website.

“We got information from a bus driver that someone had put pornographic imagery on one of our displays,” Karl-Johan Bodell, traffic director at Kalmar's regional public transport company KLT, told AFP.

The screen at Kalmar's central station in Sweden's southeast was quickly switched off — and will remain off until the cause is uncovered.

Local media reported that hackers were to blame and Bodell conceded that hacking was “the first thing that comes to mind”, but stressed that the cause had not yet been confirmed.

KLT said the company supplying the display was conducting an investigation into what had caused the switch and how they might prevent future incidents.
