A mountain guide alerted police after coming across human bones, clothes and climbing equipment by the Aletsch glacier in southwestern Valais canton.
An old pair of binoculars was also found along with coins dating from the 1920s and wooden ski poles, indicating that the owners died many decades ago beneath the 3,811-metre Dreieckhorn peak.
Local newspaper Walliser Bote said the victims were part of a four-strong climbing party, three of whom were brothers who disappeared on the glacier in March 1926.
Formal identification could take several weeks, a police spokesman said.
