MALMÖ GUN VIOLENCE

Police may have pics of Malmö teen’s murderer

The person who murdered 15-year-old Ardiwan Samir in Malmö on New Year’s Eve may have been caught on camera, according to local newspaper Sydsvenskan.

A source close to the investigation told the newspaper that in the past couple of days, eight teenage boys have been interrogated by the police for several hours.

The boys are all suspected of being somehow involved in the shooting of the 15-year-old.

The suspects have been instructed to look at photographs taken near the crime scene on New Year’s Eve. The photographs show a person, whom the police believe may be the killer.

“We’ve received some good information, although I would’ve preferred to have made even more progress,” said investigation leader Bertil Isberg-Jönsson to Sydsvenskan.

The eight boys were all in the vicinity when Ardiwan Samir was gunned down in Malmö’s Rosengård district.

Samir died shortly after arrival at the hospital after having sustained gunshot wounds to the head and chest while out enjoying the fireworks.

It was the fourth murder to have been committed in Malmö over the course of a month, and has since been followed by two additional shootings.

Last week three teenagers were arrested for the crime, on suspicion of murder or accessory to murder, according to a police statement.
