In an interview with Elle magazine, which will appear on Thursday, Sinclair confirmed that she will be the editorial director of the Huffington Post when it launches its French version later in January.
Sinclair is well-known in France not just for her husband but for her role as a star interviewer and journalist in the 1980s and 1990s. She anchored a popular weekly news programme called “7 sur 7” for 13 years.
“I am neither a saint nor a victim,” she told the magazine. “I am a free woman!”
“I’m really happy to be going back to my profession and the excitement of being part of something new,” she said. “I hope I still have something to give to the profession.”
“What’s worrying me is launching the site, that we’ll be ready on time, the stress, all that.”
When asked whether it’s possible to be a feminist while offering unconditional support to one’s husband, Sinclair responded that “unconditional support doesn’t exist.”
“One offers support if one has decided to give that support,” she said. “Nobody knows what goes on within a relationship and I defy anyone to judge mine.”
“I am free in my own judgements and actions and I decide what to do completely independently.”
The long-standing rumour that Sinclair will act as editorial director of the Huffington Post site was finally confirmed on Wednesday. The site will launch on January 23rd.
