“I’ve always thought Rocky had the right stuff for a musical and have wanted to do it for a long time,” the actor said on Sunday.

He was joined by boxing brothers Vitali and Vladimir Klitschko at the Operettenhaus, where the November 2012 “Rocky” world premier will be held. It will replace “Sister Act” which is currently running at the famous musical theatre.

The Klitschko brothers are working with the producers on the boxing elements of the musical – but Stallone said he would also be taking a hands-on approach.

“I imagine I will be able to help the future star of the show to learn the body language of Rocky, and to develop a feeling for the character,” said Stallone. “Boxers are always tense, always moving around, and each one has his own characteristics.”

Casting has not yet started for the musical, which will tell the story of the outcast boxer, his struggles in and out of the ring, and his romance with a woman called Adrian.

In 1976 when Stallone was producing the first Rocky film, he had such difficulty finding an actor who he felt was right to take the role that he decided to do it himself.

But he said on Sunday there was no danger of him taking to the musical stage. “The way I sing, the show would close after one day,” he said.
