After weeks of speculation, Apple has confirmed that its iPad tablet PC will be released in Sweden on Tuesday.

iPad set to hit Swedish shelves on Tuesday

Following a large ad campaign today by the electronics chain Media Markt announcing that iPads will be on sale from Tuesday, Apple have quietly confirmed the launch of the touch screen tablet computer in Sweden.

“Yes, they will be on sale tomorrow, and I have nothing more to add,” Petter Arnstedt, Apple Sweden’s spokesperson told Metro.

In contrast, Media Markt have been anything but reserved, with large adverts and an announcement that their shops will be open from midnight to sell the must have computer.

Despite the hullaballoo, they have not had confirmation from Apple on how much the iPads will cost.

All major telephone operators will also start making contracts available for use with an iPad from tomorrow.

When Apple released the iPad in April of this year over 3 million were sold within 80 days.

According to the Swedish Research Institute of Trade (Handelns utredningsinstitut – HUI) the iPad is tipped to be the bestselling Christmas gift for 2010.
