“Two-digit high temperatures are the exception, and light frost is expected with clear skies at night,” the DWD predicted Saturday from its headquarters in Offenbach.
The low-pressure sytem “Anneli” is expected to bring plenty of rain to parts of Germany through Sunday and into next week – meaning mountain regions could see a few snowflakes.
Southern states are in for a wet and cloudy Sunday, with scattered showers and variable clouds on tap for central Germany. Temperatures there are expected to be noticeably cooler at 5 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees in southeastern Bavaria.
The DWD said northern cities would be graced with some Sunday sun, but predicted temperatures there would be coldest overnight.
More rain is in store for the south just before the work-week begins, with snow expected at higher elevations. Rain clouds are also in the forecast for western Germany, with cloudy weather further east.
On Monday, the DWD said the rain would also head east. Maximum temperatures of 4 degrees Celsius were expected in the upper Lausitz region and Vogtland, with highs of 9 degrees in the Upper Rhine region. Similar temperatures and rain patterns are expected for Tuesday.
