The discovery of the eels has left experts at the board clueless as to how they got there – whether somebody dumped them or they have been poisoned by pollution – according to the local Södermanlands Nyheter daily.
“I don’t understand how they got there, it is a mystery,” said Karin Karlsson, who found the eels, to the newspaper.
The eels, found by Täckhammarsbro near lake Långhalsen, are reported to be between 10 and 60 centimetres long.
The eel is a protected species in Sweden.
