Duelling coalitions evenly split: poll

The poll suggests that the nationalist Sweden Democrats will hold the balance of power in the Riksdag after September’s election.

According to the latest figures, the red-greens have 47.2 percent support, an increase of 0.8 percentage points from the previous assessment, while the ruling Alliance stands at 46 percent, a fall of 1 percentage point. The difference is not statistically significant.

By party, the Social Democrats have a narrow lead, increasing 1 percentage point to 32.5 percent, the third consecutive poll it has fallen below 33 percent support.

The ruling Moderates have 31.1 percent, a 1 percentage point decrease from the previous assessment. It is the fourth poll in a row that Moderate support has been above 30 percent. The currently unaffiliated Sweden Democrats are supported by 4.7 percent.

The Left Party increased slightly to 5.5 percent, while the Green Party lost 0.8 percentage points at 9.1 percent. The Liberal Party is supported by 4.8 percent, down 0.9 percentage points, losing ground for the fourth straight month.

The Christian Democrats increased slightly to 4.3 percent and the Centre Party gained 0.5 percentage points to 5.7 percent.
