Wrapping your mittens around a hot mug of Glühwein just isn’t the same when it’s soggy and warm outside, presenting holiday revellers out for a bit of Christmas cheer with a challenge over the next few days.
Showers will head east from western Germany on Friday, with short thunderstorms expected in the northwest, the DWD said. High temperatures will remain between eight and 12 degrees Celsius. Even the Alps, which have seen snowstorms in recent weeks, could see rain overnight.
Holiday shoppers can expect rain by afternoon on Saturday in much of the country. Temperatures will top out between seven and 12 degrees Celsius, with gusty winds expected in higher altitudes.
The balmy temperatures and rain will continue on Sunday with heavy cloud cover everywhere but the southern regions, which will likely see a bit of sunshine before nightfall.
