Strawberry yoghurt recalled over metal shard fears

The Zott dairy factory in the Bavarian city of Mertingen recalled its strawberry yoghurt on Friday over fears that a broken machine could have contaminated the product with metal slivers.

A malfunction in the company’s fruit cooking machine may have dropped an eight-millimetre piece of metal into a batch of strawberries, a spokesperson from the company said.

Zott said there have been no reports of injuries to consumers.

Customers who have purchased Mertingen strawberry (Erdbeer) yoghurt with an expiration day between 23.10.2009 and 25.10.2009 should throw out the product, but keep the lid to return to stores for a refund.

Questions should be directed to the company hotline: 09078 801-300
