Saab’s Gripen aircraft is one of three possible replacements for Switzerland’s current generation of aircraft. The exact number of planes included in the deal hasn’t been made public, according to Saab.
“The Gripen proposal offers Switzerland the most cost-effective and proportionate replacement,” said Saab CEO Åke Svensson in a statement.
Svensson went on to tout the “long-term viable industrial co-operation” of the potential deal, which would allow Saab to supply training and maintenance for the planes after they’re in Swiss hangars.
