According to police, the one-motor propeller “Beechcraft Bonanza V 35” plane overshot the runway and landed in a nearby cornfield where it erupted into flames.

The 49-year-old pilot and owner of the plane had radioed the tower at the Oberhub bei Regenstauf airfield to report an emergency, police reported.

Despite the efforts of 12 fire department workers, the plane burned up within minutes, and the pilot and his two passengers could not be rescued.

Regensburg police are investigating the cause of the crash.
