Moderates halt slide in voter support

Support for Fredrik Reinfeldt's Moderate party has increased by 1.5%, a new poll from Sifo has shown. The poll is reported to indicate that the Moderates have halted their steady slide in voter support since the election.

According to the December poll, the Social Democrats’ position strengthened 1.3 points to 44.1 percent while the Moderates climbed 1.5 points to 22.6 percent.

The Left party was the only small party to show an increase in support, by 0.4 points to 5.3 percent. The Green party was down 1.1 points to 5.6 percent, the Centre Party down 0.5 points to 7.1 percent and the Christian Democrats down 0.8 points to 4.2 percent.

Education Minister Jan Björklund’s Liberal Party’s popularity continued its recent decline and dropped by 0.1 points to 7.4 percent. Support for parties outside the Riksdag dropped by 0.3 points to 3.8 percent.

Sifo asked a representative sample of 1,898 which party they would vote for if a general election were held today.
