ELECTION

Green MP Fridolin to stand down

Swedish Green MP Gustav Fridolin has confirmed that he will not stand for re-election.

Fridolin, who is now 22, entered parliament in the 2002 election.

“I think it’s dangerous for politicians to never have worked with anything other than politics,” he told TT.

“I said when I entered parliament that it would only be for one term. Now that I’m doing what I said, people are surprised,” he said.

Fridolin made public his decision in a newsletter to party members, wrote Stockholm City.

He has not yet decided what to do after leaving parliament.

“I have one year left in the Riksdag and then we’ll have an election to win,” he said.

“After that, we’ll just have to see what way I find to express my committment.”
