GastroSuisse, the largest national business association of restaurateurs and hoteliers, said the Swiss spent 3.3 billion francs more on dining and drinking out in 2010 compared to the year before.
Better employment opportunities, population growth and falling prices in restaurants and bars contributed to the marked recovery, GastroSuisse said at a press conference this week.
The association also said fast-foods are increasingly popular across the country, especially among young consumers, while adults tend to enjoy more traditional meals, according to the daily Tribune de Genève.
Steak and fries was the most ordered dish last year.
