Eight Moderate MPs write in Sunday’s Dagens Nyheter that the party, which has traditionally been conservative on social issues, took a lead on the gay marriage question.
“It is important that we, as Moderates and as the largest governing party, show leadership, show what we stand for and start to act in this question,” the group write.
The MPs say that they will take independent action to introduce a gender neutral marriage law if the government doesn’t act. They argue that a modern society must include all, regardless of who they choose as a life partner.
