VIDEO: See the spectacular new footbridge at Vøringsfossen

The controversial new bridge near the Vøringsfossen waterfall is now complete. Will it be an attraction in its own right, or does it spoil the view? Watch this drone footage and decide.

“It's absolutely fantastic. The bridge is beautiful and is going to attract many people to Eidfjord, Hardanger, Western Norway and Norway,” Marit Stadheim, head of Visit Eidfjord, the local tourist agency told Norway's state broadcaster NRK

The footbridge crosses the canyon 50m above the 182m high waterfall, which was the most visited natural attraction in Norway in 2018.

But the bridge has been controversial, with Arne Nævra, a photographer who is an MP for the Socialist Left party, campaigning against it.

“I think it's sad to see. I think it is an abuse of nature,” he told NRK when shown the video. “I get an actual physical pain seeing how it has ended up. The pictures only confirm my worst fears.”

What do you think?
