According to the latest poll by Norstat for NRK and Aftenposten, the Conservatives are still the biggest party with 25.8 percent of the vote, compared to 23.4% for the opposition Labour.
The so-called 'red bloc' of Labour, the Socialist Left Party, and the Centre Party, gievn current poll results can now expect to win only 80 seats, losing them a majority for the first time since last summer.
Erna Solberg, Norway's prime minister, said the result showed that the public approved of her government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
“I take it as a feedback that people think the government has done a good job on Covid-19,” she told NRK.
“Now we have to work hard with the voters to hold on to this lead and bring forward the other right-wing parties.”
According to NRK, with the exception of one poll, the three parties have been set to win over 80 mandates in every poll since August 2018.
Kjersti Stenseng, said that her party hoped to bring the green party into a coalition, as is the case in neighbouring Sweden.
“Of course, it is our clear ambition that we will be able to create a red-green alternative to today's government,” she told NRK. “Then we must add that on these measurements, there are no other alternatives that come close to a producing a majority.”
