LUND

Re-educate yourself into the IT sector

During this course you will learn the basic commands, formulas and tricks that will help increase your productivity in Excel. The course is free, but only accessible to students at Lund University.

During this free event organized by the International Citizen Hub in Lund, Axel Wallin will explain how he made his own dreams come true. Wallin moved to Lund within five years ago, and since then he has built a large network and started a social movement. On March 11th he shares his experiences with creative ways to integrate into society.

Swedish Human Rights Film Festival 2020

The Swedish Human Rights Film Festival runs from March 5th to 7th in Lund. During the festival there is a different theme within the topic of human rights every day. Each film ends with a Q&A and a discussion with the audience, and all the films are either shown in English or have English subtitles.

MALMÖ

Inspiration day – Women working with Games

Where: Jungmansgatan 33 19, Hamnen

Event by: The Game Assembly

The game training The Game Assembly is organizing an inspiration day for female game developers on March 7th. The day is divided into two parts, and the first part includes Swedish-language workshops for those without industry experience. Participants with a career in the game industry then come together for presentations and the opportunity to network in the second part of the day.

Wednesday Night Hop & Beginners' Lindy Hop

Where: Moriska Paviljongen, Norra Parkgatan 2

An evening full of dance with a social aspect can be found on March 11th in Malmö. The organization Cats' Corners organizes Wednesday Night Hop & Beginners' Lindy Hop, an American dance from the 1920s and 30s. The evening costs 70 kronor, and you don't have to bring a dance partner to participate.

A classic farce by the master of intelligent comedy – the great Neil Simon. Follow this New York social set as they go to great lengths to avoid scandal in a world where gossip can lead to downfall! We all have secrets to hide, do we not? First performed in September 1988, Rumors (amateur rights courtesy of Samuel French) enjoyed a long successful Broadway run. American playwright and screenwriter Neil Simon is widely regarded as one of the most successful, prolific and performed playwrights in the world.

UPPSALA

The art of spreading facts, conveying knowledge and busting media myths

Where: Room X Biskopsgatan 3, Uppsala

The Alumnus of the Year 2019 award is being presented to researcher, author, educator and science writer Emma Frans for her “tireless work to increase the resistance to misleading facts and fake news”.The award will be presented in conjunction with a lecture by Emma Frans at the University Main building in Uppsala. The event is free of charge but the number of seats is limited.

Sweden International Improv Festival

Event by: Sweden International Improv Festival

Improv actors from around the world gather in Uppsala in early March for the Sweden International Improv Festival. During this event, no show is the same and improvisation on the stage is the name of the game. In addition to the performances, there are also various workshops taking place. A ticket costs 180 kronor including booking costs.

Talk: The Dystopian World of Margaret Atwood’s Gilead

Where: Svartbäcksgatan 19, 753 32 Uppsala

The Uppsala English Bookshop regularly organizes events around books in the store. On Sunday March 8th, dystopia expert Daniel Ogden will talk about Margaret Atwood's award-winning books The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments. Tickets cost 70 kronor including tea and cake.

STOCKHOLM

Afrobeat music, StandUp Comedy and Karaoke

When: March 5th, 6pm (doors open). Afrobeat DJ, mingle and drinks: 6-7pm. English comedy: 7-8pm. Swedish comedy: 8.15-9pm. Karaoke: 9pm-3am.

Annual St Patrick's Parade

Event by: The Swedish-Irish Society

At the annual St. Patrick's Parade in Stockholm you'll find face-painting, Irish dancing and music, food and drink and more. The parade will go through the streets of central Stockholm, led by St Patrick and the Irish Ambassador.

UMEÅ

England vs Scotland beer tasting

The Umeå Beer Club has organized a beer tasting evening where different beers from England and Scotland are tasted and compared, as well as a talk about Scottish beers. Tickets for the evening cost 370 kronor.
