For starters, nobody in Paris spends much time on the Champs-Élysées. Most dread going there. The problems were highly concentrated in a small area. Monmartre was far away & calm and plenty of other fun areas were fine. It's easy to avoid the problem areas.

I had friends from out of town over the weekend and walked all over Montmartre and below into the 9th and no problems at all. No problems in the Marais either. Hell, shopping at the BHV was easy on Sunday! It was empty!

Although Paris remains a pretty safe place to be, considering many are announcing an act 4 for next Saturday, I would, if this was still possible, cancel and postpone a visit since the riots are taking place in the main tourists areas (Champs Elysees, Opera/Madeleine).
