A truck transporting around 600 kilos of hashish was stopped after crossing the Öresund bridge between Denmark and Sweden on March 1st, regional newspaper Sydsvenskan reports.

It is the largest cannabis smuggling haul seized in Sweden and it would take an average user more than 400 years to smoke the entire stash, according to the newspaper's own calculations.

“But when you get up to these amounts a lot of it is packaging, so we don't have the exact amount yet,” prosecutor Stefan Gradler told Sydsvenskan.

The 51-year-old driver from Poland is being held during the ongoing investigation, but he is not suspected to be the head behind the operation. He denies knowing the cannabis was in his truck.

The haul is almost twice the amount seized by the Swedish customs agency over the whole of 2015 (310 kilo). In 2016 a total of 690 kilo was seized, but on almost 900 separate occasions.
