The storm already created problems for airplanes, boats and cars in Northern Norway on Sunday and the conditions were expected to continue to cause havoc on Monday.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute issued a storm and strong winds emergency warning for the inland areas of Troms, West Finnmark and Finnmarkvidda.

“High risk of cancellation of flights, boats and other transport. Bridges may be closed. Dangerous to be outside. Major damage to buildings and infrastructure,” the notice read.

“We cannot recommend that people in these areas go outside. It can be a major storm, meaning winds of over 25 metres per second, and thus it's best to stay inside,” meteorologist Rafael Grote told NTB.

Several roads in Finnmark were kept open on Monday morning, but E69 between Skarsvåg and Nordcapp was closed, iFinnmark report.

On Sunday, the storm created severe driving conditions and other challenges in the three northernmost counties. Among other the reported incidents were a truck that blew off the road in Skibotn in Troms and a boat that was lifted by the wind and smashed into a car in Hadsel in Nordland.

The weather in Nordland was expected to improve on Monday, but police in Salten warned that roads will be very slippery, Avisa Nordland wrote. In addition, the ferry between Moskenes and Bodø was stopped because of severe weather early on Monday morning, but was back in operation as of 9.30am.
