Berlin newspapers reported that travelers can expect delays or even cancellations on Wednesday as the ground crew workers go on strike between the hours of 5am and 11am.
The so-called “warning strike” is due to a labour dispute with the union Verdi. The union is calling for one euro more per hour for those with contracts of 12 months or more, according to Tagesspiegel. Currently the union said its workers are making €11 per hour. Verdi also wants better promotion prospects for its members
The next round of negotiations is set for February 10th.
An airport spokesperson told Tagesspiegel that travelers should “inform themselves beforehand about their flight status”, which can be checked online here.
Berliner Morgenpost advises passengers to ask their airlines for replacement flights if the original is cancelled, and that if there is no replacement flight, travelers can ask for a return of their ticket price.
